Special Representative to China

For many years Rotary clubs from all over the world have supported the development of modern China through numerous projects. During the last few years dedicated Rotarians from other countries, who are living in China, have formed Rotary clubs in Beijing and Shanghai. They are acting like forerunners for future Rotary clubs in China, that will be open for members who are nationals of the People's Republic of China.
From the beginning of 2006 a direct link has been established between the headquarters of Rotary International in Evanston, Illinois, and the Government of the PRC in Beijing. It is my hope that through consultation and cooperation with Chinese officials, based on the fundamental principle of "service above self", we shall succeed in formalizing the presence of Rotary in China, thereby welcoming China into the international world of Rotary.
