Vlad is a citizen of the world. Born in the Philippines on 4th April 1956 to a Filipino father and a Chinese mother, he migrated to the USA after he finished his Hotel & Restaurant Management school undergraduate. Having completed his MBA at Michigan State University, Vlad joined Hilton International in 1980 and has since traveled the world – spreading the warmth of Hilton hospitality.
With wife Teresa and son Arthur, they moved around in the northeastern part of the USA (New York City NY, Newark NJ, Chicago IL, Pittsburgh PA, Boston MA) before moving to Asia in 1993. Thinking that it would only be a 3 year stint in Asia, Vlad has now been in this part of the world for 14 years. He was first in Singapore, then to Jakarta, then Maldives where he got his first General Manager’s position to open the wonderful Hilton resort on Rangali Island, then its back to dry land in Seremban (Malaysia), and then finally to Beijing in May 2002.
Having learnt Mandarin in school while he was young, it was easy for Vlad to get assimilated into the Chinese culture. He is the General Manager of Hilton Beijing which he has completely renovated and currently adding a 126 room extension ready for the Olympics 2008.
Vlad enjoys going to the gym and playing squash. On his free time, he and his wife enjoy the arts and love to travel. Although he does not get to do it often, Vlad is also the cook in the family.
