Gloira Cheng, a Pychological Counsellor by profession, specialised in Counselling and Therapy. She began her counselling career with the Queensland State Government in Australia, subsequently served as University Counsellor at the Queensland University and Hong Kong University, also having her own practice. Her research and professional papers were presented at various international conferences on counselling and therapy, representing the University of Queensland and later the University of Hong Kong.
Her professional interests focus on communication, dealing with stress, developing human potentials and problem-solving. By and large, she continues to offer training in counselling skills, leadership development and learning strategies in groups.
Gloria is currently the President of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association, a professional body that enhances the practice and standard of psychological and educational counselling.
Gloria, in cooperation with a few others, founded the first Ethnic Radio in both English and Cantonese; she presented broadcast programs on international news, music and film critique, with the aim of helping Australians to better understand Chinese culture and customs, and for the Chinese to blend in with and adjust more easily to the Australian life style.
Over the years, she has served various Public Services positions: member of the Law Reform Commission, working on "Codification of Bail in Criminal Proceedings"; member of the Broadcasting Authority; Chairman of the Panel of Television Advisors for Kowloon, and a Member of the Film Censorship Advisors Panel.
She was appointed Justice of the Peace of Queensland, Australia in 1974 Her Rotary service began in 1992 when she chartered the Rotary Club of Queensway, subsequently served in various capacities at club and district levels.
Gloria was elected as the District Governor 2002-2003 of D3450 (Mongolia, China, Hong Kong and Macau). She is a six-star Paul Harris Fellow.
Over the years Gloria has frequently attended RI Conventions and Zone Institutes. She has been on Panels in a number of Zone Institutes.
She was recently appointed as the Trainer for Rotary in China and a member of the Advisory Committee to the SR of the RI President to China for three years till 2008.
Her current capacity in District 3450 includes: Deputy Chairman of The Rotary Foundation Committee, Chairman of the Grants Committee, member of the District Training Committee, DG?? representative to Clubs in China.

Gloria is married to Andrew Cheng, a Consulting Engineer, who is a Past District Governor 2001-2002 of District 7230 (Westchester, New York City and Bermuda).
