Rotary China Assembly

The Rotary China Team met in Shanghai during 7-9 May for our bi-annual business meeting, followed by a day-long Rotary China Assembly for Rotarians in China - where we introduced PE D.K. Lee's theme for 2008-9 and observed his address at the International Assembly in January. The Assembly was followed by a social dinner hosted by the Shanghai club. The following day a President Elect Training Seminar was given and led by our Training team of PDG's Gloria and Andrew Cheng.

Ambassadorial Scholar Selected

We are delighted to learn that the candidate proposed by RCT for an Ambassadorial Scholarship, Miss Zhao Qiu Wan has been chosen by the Rotary Foundation to receive a competitive scholarship from the Low Income Country pool. Zhao comes from Xiamen in Eastern China.

RCT Conference features a bit of unusual entertainment

We can't go into any detail today, but the RCT conference program included this Saturday a fellowship event hosted by the RC Beijing called "Rotary Idol 2007". This concluded with a very unusual Oktoberfest skit that certainly broke the ice between the clubs and amused all. RC Shanghai president Roger Owens was crowned Miss Oktoberfest 2007. Jill Ji in the Copenhagen Post

Jill Ji is featured in an article in the Copenhagen Post of 28 September flanked by S.R. Christopher and Birde Berg of the Copenhagen International Rotary Club.

Our Ambassadorial Scholar off to Copenhagen

JillMiss Jill Ji, who was awarded a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial scholarship has departed from Shanghai for one year of studies at Copenhagen University. Jill's scholarship is valued at USD 26,000 and will enable her to study in an advanced public health program with a focus on AIDS awareness.
